In the UK

Peter Barnes and Rachel Carby are the co-directors of our British partner company.

This well established and reliable family business was founded in 1975 by Peter Barnes (a Headmaster) and his wife Gaynor (a piano teacher). After having very successfully hosted German language students in their home, they began to offer Easter and summer language courses which proved to be extremely successful. A few years later they began to arrange for foreign students to attend full-time UK schools and since that time the business has established a large network of schools throughout the UK. They enjoy a strong reputation for providing excellent and reliable host families for the students to stay with. The majority of the students attend State day schools (both religious and non-denominational) whilst staying with a host family. Many pupils decide to attend a full-time “A” level or International Baccalaureate course whilst others opt for a shorter stay, often with the main aim of improving their ability to speak English.

Rachel Barnes at Go-StudyUKRachel Carby (née Barnes) is a professional musician and a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music and Goldsmiths University. She has won numerous prestigious awards which includes winning the BBC TV Young Musician of the Year 1992. As a soloist Rachel has performed extensively both in the UK and internationally in major concert halls, radio and television. Rachel worked in education as a teacher for 13 years, both in primary and secondary schools, in the private and state sectors. She has now joined her parents Peter and Gaynor and her husband Ric in the family business, helping young foreign students to achieve in England.
